It's been a couple months, but I just had to post this one. January 4th, I got to go see Buddy Guy play at his club, Legends, in Chicago. What a magnificent performance! His daughter, Carlise, opened. Anyway, the guy (pun intended) was on fire! Talking to the crowd, joking around, shooting jokingly lascivious looks at the pretty waitresses, running into the audience and playing guitar solos, even running out into the street and it was a rainy night! He played stuff like, "Goin' Down", "Hoochie Coochie Man", "Country Boy", "The First Time I Met The Blues", "I Got Dreams to Remember"; he even played a little medley of stuff where he did a little bit of "Boom Boom", "Strange Brew" and "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)"; and he ended the night by playing "On A Saturday Night" and singing it with his daughter. He had quite a good backing group as well: a good, solid drummer playing the funkiest beats; a bass player who was laying it down just as funky as the drummer; a keyboardist who was absolutely pounding, matching Buddy note for note; and a young guitarist who could pick it out pretty hot, too! Afterwards, Buddy went behind the merch booth by the doorway and signed autographs, met and talked with people, shook hands. What a night!

Re: Just saw the Real Deal!
Fri, February 23, 2007 - 7:40 AMI have seen Buddy several times in the last 15 years. In my experience his shows are great but way too short. -

Fri, February 23, 2007 - 7:48 AMIt did seem a little short, but I thought, for an hour and a half, it was just right. And I was just reeling in the fact that just a few feet away was Buddy! And it was the same classic barbed wire guitar tone, the same powerful, soulful voice, so I couldn't complain in the least!
